Benefits of body oiling
Ayurveda’s top anti-aging strategies! Body oiling daily most obviously, helps your skin retain its hydration and luster but it has other amazing benefits.
The physical action of massaging oil into your skin and joints helps to relieve stiffness and improves circulation, calms the nervous system, helps promote drainage of the lymphatic system boosting immunity, giving your whole body a nice glow and boosting energy and overall health.
Oiling in the morning brings a sense of comfort and adds a layer of protection as if you are wearing a pair of silky long johns all day long.
Oiling at night can be a way for you to wind down and become present within the body, using it as an act of self-care. Oiling the feet at night promotes restful sleep, especially lavender infused oil.
Ways I use body oiling. Instead of soap I use oil to cleanse my face. I usually will body oil before or directly after showering. I also oil my feet before bed sometimes if I've had a stressful day. I put oil on my pinky finger and put up my nose. I rub oil on my earlobes when I'm stressed. I put coconut oil in my tea every morning. I use oil to replace soap for cleansing
Different types of natural oils
Be sure you are purchasing a high quality, organic, cold pressed and unrefined oil as our skin is the biggest organ on the body and will soak up everything.
Buying cheap /low quality oil can actually do more harm than good as you are possibly introducing unnatural and even toxic chemicals that are directly absorbed into your bloodstream.
TODAY WE ARE USING: Grapeseed oil
Due to its high content of proanthocyanidins (an antioxidant), it helps fight many kinds of skin problems. Grapeseed oil can help repair sun damage and boost collagen repair. It also contains Vitamin E, which is hydrating and anti-inflammatory.
Olive oil: Protects against environmental damage: Olive oil's antioxidant properties protect skin cells against environmental damage and inflammation.
Coconut oil: May be linked to some potential benefits for skin, including reducing inflammation, keeping skin moisturized and helping heal wounds. The medium-chain fatty acids found in coconut oil also possess antimicrobial properties
Jojoba oil: Has anti-inflammatory properties which help to tame chaffing and chapping, reduce redness caused by drying, ease the effects of eczema and rosacea, and keep skin calm and comfortable. The Vitamin E and B-complex vitamins in the Jojoba oil help in skin repair and damage control.
Hemp oil: Can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles as well as prevent signs of aging from developing. The linoleic acid and oleic acids found in hemp oil can't be produced by the body but can play a crucial role in skin health and anti-aging, so they're important nutrients to add to the diet or directly to skin
Castor oil: Is used as a natural treatment for arthritis pain, inflammation and joint pain. Castor oil has natural anti-inflammatory properties that makes it an ideal massage oil that can be applied on aching muscles and joints
Avocado oil: The beta carotene, protein, lecithin, fatty acids, and vitamins A, D, and E found in avocado oil help moisturize and protect your skin from damaging UV rays and also increase collagen metabolism.
Note: using oil alone is still very nourishing to the body, however if you infuse it with botanical herbs it can heighten the effects and experience immensely as the different herbs contribute their own benefits. Combining oils and herbs is one of the easiest ways to practice herbal medicine. Evaluate your personal symptoms and ailments, and symply research botanical herbs that can support and elevate your body's natural ability to heal.
