Dr. Michael Austin offers complementary therapy
techniques which are used in conjunction with
conventional pain medicine. Chiropractic care and
acupuncture can be very therapeutic in the pain relief process.
Dr. Michael Austin received his Bachelor of Science
degree from Excelsior College in Albany, NY.
Under the guidance of an Anesthesiologist, Osteopath,
Chiropractor and Orthopedic Doctors, he completed his residency which led to certification in Manipulation
Under Anesthesia (MUA). Since moving to Arizona, Dr. Austin has had the opportunity to complete his Medical
Acupuncture Training as well as work with a large Inte-
grative Team under Indian Health Services (IHS) in The
Southern Arizona Service Unit and is certified in
Acudetox / Ear NADA.
Dr. Austin also completed training in another Auricular
Technique called Battlefield Acupuncture (BFA) and has been
successful in eliminating both chronic and acute pain includ-
ing Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid, and CRPS (formerly RSD). In
addition to pain syndromes, Dr. Austin has helped patients
eliminate anxiety and depression medications.
Outside of the office, Dr. Austin is a Proctor for the Physical
Medicine Module and Instructor of Ear Acupuncture for the
Integrative Medicine Program at The University of Arizona. He
has been an advocate for the benefits of meditation for decades
and is in the process of completing Instructor training in
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Vipassana and
Loving Kindness Techniques.
